Mr Rachele

Mr Rachele

After being introduced to techno in 1998, leaving his metal background behind, he embraced the art of creating and embracing techno. After seeing his peers all DJ, he decided to take on Live PA as a point of difference. After studying audio engineering in 2001, he dived head first into hardware production. Playing out a few times, but left the land down under for a life in sunny London. After a short introduction to the heavyweights of the London techno scene, he decided to abandon music production, and take up photography. He was after all, travelling the world, and expanding his horizons. After returning home to Australia for a holiday to see his new neices, his partner had a traumatic accident, turning their lives upside down. Many years were dedicated to looking after his partner. After a time, thanks to the miracles of modern medicine, his partner was back on her feet and her independence returned. He now had free time again. But which artform to take up? So 2015 he decided to try his hand once more at live hardware music production. With a new found freedom he would make tunes selfishly. Create for the sake of creating. To dance around the studio, like no one is watching, just like the good old days. The journey into hardware started with acquiring gear he dreamed of owning back in the early 2000. These consisted of the early Elektron boxes and soon evolved into the addictive format, eurorack synths. A decade on and Mr Rachele has created a live hardware set that will keep the techno purists happy and punters on the dancefloor moving. His outputs are unique, dark and engage audiences with a warmth that is both machine and human to its core. Mr. Rachele is a prominent member of the live hardware and synth community in Melbourne. Modular Theme Time Session was created in 2019 and has now become an integral part of the modular synth community, not only in Melbourne but reaching around Australian and New Zealand, with artists globally joining the community. MTT brings artists together to make music in collaborative environments. In 2024 on the online radio Area.3000.radio he started an one hour interview and jam show aptly named Hardware Road. Hardware Road has been expanded to include a YouTube channel and synth meet. Hardware Road is all about local live electronic music hardware based performers and producers. We talk with live hardware artist and explore not only their journey with gear, but their musical journey and their place in the electronic music scene.
